Description

Tucked under the ancient Etruscan walls of Cortona, the recently restored old stone Villa of Casona Smeraldo lies up on the hill and is part of a beatiful Renaissance Villa. From Casona Smeraldo one can admire the splendid view of the Valdichiana completely surrounded by olive groves which produce some of our excellent local extra virgin olive oil. The villa is surrounded by old pine, cypress, lime and oak trees which provide perfect areas for relaxing and reading. The beautiful swimming-pool, with garden furniture and barbecue, is at guests' disposal. Built on two floors, the house can take up to six people. Ground floor: large living/dining room with big Tuscan fireplace, cable TV, stereo, telephone and high speed wireless internet; large glass doors open onto the furnished patio; one double bedroom (bed-size 170x195)and private bathroom. On the ground floor there is also an excellent and very well equipped galley-style kitchen with American style coffee-maker. First Floor: two large air-conditioned bedrooms (one with queen size bed, one with two single beds), two bathrooms with shower, one of which is an en-suite to the twin bedroom, screens on bedroom and bathroom windows. Every bedroom has been furnished with style and elegance and has been decorated with a different pastel hue which creates a relaxing atmosphere. Air conditioning and central heating are available. In addittion to that: independent entrance, garage, private parking area and small laundry room. You wind your way up a narrow, paved country road, quite close to the now famous Villa Bramasole of Under the Tuscan Sun, through the terraced olive groves until the large gates opening to Casona Smeraldo and its newly restored sister house Casina Giada come into view.

From the Guestbook
What a wonderful house. We have so enjoyed our stay here. Everything you could want: peace, quiet, lovely house and great food. Beautiful views and every detail thought about. We loved the walk along the Roman path to Cortona. Thank you!
