Villa Il Castagno is the heart of the wine estate having the same name, which is located in an enchanting hilly position among vineyards and olive groves and from which one can catch sights of the evoking shape of the near town of Cortona. Guests will have the chance to stay in the wonderful residence dating back to the 17th century and to experience an unique holiday under the guidance of the expert personnel which will lead them in the visit to the old farm, the vineyards, the cellar and the barrel cellar. During the tastings they will have the chance to taste renowned wines, obtained through "artisan" process combining handmade making with modern techniques and technologies, in order to always have the best quality. The old noble residence is surrounded by 10.000 sqm of gardens and meadows spotted with roses, jasmine, iris, peonies, lavender, rosemary and fruit trees: a sparkling of colours and fragrances that during Spring and Autumn give all their best. A peaceful and calm oasis to enjoy relaxing moments. The original architecture is enriched by exquisite period furnishment making this property an ideal location for "refined and demanding" guests, who wish to spend a holiday in a period villa, now provided with every modern comfort. On the ground floor the spacious living area is composed of a sitting room with fireplace, several relax spaces with comfortable sofas and the impressive dining room adorned with a magnificent ceramic stove and a large table for the whole family. The typical Tuscan kitchen, completely overlayed with decorated tiles, is dominated by the fireplace of pietra serena. From the kitchen, fully equipped and provided with two hobs, one can access a pretty inner courtyard. A typical stone staircase leads to the upper floors in which there is a sequence of sitting rooms with fireplaces, study rooms with writing desks, sitting spaces where to taste a delicious cup of tea or read a book, and some bedrooms, each with its own story and well-defined style. On the first floor there are two double bedrooms, in the biggest one the pieces of paper yellowned by the time and nestled in the countertops of the nightstands tell the story of an everlasting love. On the second floor other three bedrooms disclose themselves to the guests: a double, a single and another one suitable for children with three single beds. Lastly, on the third floor, there is the sixth bedroom, a double, with private bathroom with shower. The outer living space and the dining area eased down among the trees, invite guests to enjoy the coolness of the summer nights and the evoking view. The estate is completed by an old lemon house and the swimming pool area with solarium equipped with wooden gazebo, sunbeds and sun chairs. The big and neat garden and the surrounding vineyards invite guests to enjoy pleasant walks and long relaxing moments in the shade underneath the century-old trees, in a peaceful and calm oasis. Villa Il Castagno is the ideal location for a family holiday, for those who love wine, food and nature, but also perfect frame for a romantic marriage in the heart of the Tuscan countryside characterised by green hills, great wine and good traditional cooking.
Even though the estate is in a quiet area, it's not isolated. You can easily reach by foot a tiny nice village nearby where you will find a good traditional restaurant/pizzeria and a bar.

My family and I spent in this gorgeous villa 3 amazing weeks and we had an unforgettable stay. We were truly overwhelmend with the charm of the place and the beauty of the house. The garden is lovely, I ate breakfast every morning at the outdoor table, enjoying the peace and silent that surround the villa, what a gift. The kids had great fun in the pool and in the garden. These memories will last a lifetime. Grazie mille!
